Family, friends, and coworkers,
I’m writing you today with 1 simple request. On March 6, 2021, I’m supporting Kansas Children’s Foundation (KCF) as a Shoe Guy at their 5th annual virtual “Wine, Women and Shoes” event. We Shoe Guys are doing our part to raise funds for this amazing organization, and I’d like to ask for your help in order to reach my fundraising goal of $500.
Every year, KCF nominates a child as their spokesperson, and this year Emmett Biggs is the “Prince of Sole”. In 2019, Emmett began a 6-month battle with severe lung issues involving pneumonia and aspiration from food and liquids. As a result, the Biggs family found themselves at Wesley Children’s Hospital each month battling an ever-growing infection. Emmett’s infection continued to grow for 6 months and he began to lose weight, regress developmentally, and his organs were starting to show signs of severe stress which can lead to them shutting down. He was on the cusp of failure to thrive; however, in September of 2019 Emmett has a surgery to place a gastrointestinal feeding tube, which was the start of a long yet heroic journey recovery. Today Emmett is thriving, and the Bigg’s family loves that KCF has helped Emmett hit SO many huge milestones, and many more to come!
For the last five years, KCF has been supporting families throughout Kansas, both financially and emotionally, which helps carry them through a time of true uncertainty. KCF has an unwavering commitment to these children and their families, which is evident through the programs that they fund through Wesley Children’s Hospital. These programs include; music therapy, pet therapy, & art therapy.
In addition, KCF offers additional programs to all communities throughout Kansas. Nearly $600,000 in grants have been provided to Kansas organizations who serve children through pediatric medical care, safety and leadership programs! To date, families have received approximately $200,000 in much needed assistance. In 2020, 46 out of the 105 Kansas counties have been provided $10,931 to help a total of 53 children through the Individual Assistance program.
I’d love for you to support this wonderful cause. Would you be willing to give $10, $25, $100 or $1,000? On a personal note, I can’t forget mentioning that every dollar you donate through my campaign for KCF helps me towards being named the “King of Sole”. Thanks for your consideration, and I hope I can count on you as a supporter!
