Join us for an amazing night celebrating
the Sunflower and the children of Kansas!
Helianthus, which is the scientific term for a sunflower, is a first time event for Kansas Children's Foundation. The gala is organized by a group of caring, connected and creative women who are working hard to make sure you enjoy every nuance of the evening. From beautiful decorations to delicious desserts, every details has been touched by our team and we are excited to welcome you!
6:00 PM - Cocktail Time
You'll be greeted with a glass of bubbly and will have the opportunity to browse more than 30 auction items that include trips, jewelry, experiences, dinners and liquor cabinet must-haves. Mark Arts will have a beautiful watercolor exhibit to enjoy and we are offering a bar with wine and spirits, along with a fall signature drink you can purchase for $25.
Local artist, Stella Hankins, will be onsite creating custom portraits - hurry, there are only 25 spots to purchase. The donation is $100 each and goes directly to the mission of the evening - Music Therapy and the purchase of a facility dog for pediatric cancer! You'll want to grab one of these slots because this art is something you will want to display in your home. She'll have all of them ready to go by end of evening. When registering, you'll have the opportunity to upgrade your wine and have it delivered to your table!
NEW! is our Luck & Luxury raffle where the overall winner will get to choose between a luxury couples vacation, a coveted Gucci bag and a guys hunting trip. All of these prizes are worth approximately $5,000 and only 200 tickets will be sold. The winner could be YOU!! What would you choose?
7:30 PM - Dinner and Program
We are proud to partner with Chef and Owner of Napoli Italian Eatery, Jeremy Wade, in an Italian menu curated specially for you! We'll start the meal with roasted carrot salad with pistachio's and goat cheese. Our entree includes perfectly stewed short rib and a savory pasta with a side of roasted asparagus. (If you choose a vegetarian menu, let celia@kschildren.org know). After dinner, you'll be served authentic cannoli on a family-style platter.
The silent auction closes at 8PM so be sure to check your mobile bidding!
The evening program, hosted by KWCH's Michael Schwanke, will include a live auction of fabulous items donated by people who like the finer things! And here is where we will hear from our health care heroes and families that experience the very things we gather to support: Certified Music Therapist will share stories of how music can soothe babies and playing instruments can distract children from the pain and fear of their treatment. We will also hear from a family who has undergone cancer treatment and has been helped by the wet nose and fluffy ears of a hospital therapy dog. After hearing these stories, our guests will be asked to help in meaningful ways with the Fund the Need.
The night ends with a drawing of the Luck & Luxury winner and their choice on the grand prize!
